but the same is not true for having a brother.*

Growing up with at least one girl in the family also makes people more able
to cope with their problems, according to the study.
Daughters tie loved ones closer together and encourage them to communicate
their emotions more effectively, the researchers believe.
Prof Tony Cassidy, from the University of Ulster, who carried out the study
with researchers from De Montfort University in Leicester, said that having
a sister helped to promote good mental health.
He said: "Sisters appear to encourage more open communication and cohesion
in families. However, brothers seem to have the alternative effect.
Emotional expression is fundamental to good psychological health and having
sisters promotes this in families."
Girls who had sisters also tended to be more independent and keen on
achievement, according to the findings.
The effects were stronger among children from broken homes, suggesting that
sisters might lean on each other more for support when their parents
divorce.
Prof Cassidy added that the lowest scores were among boys who had only
brothers.
"It could be that boys have a natural tendency not to talk about things," he
said. "With boys together it is about a conspiracy of silence not to talk.
Girls tend to break that down."
The study questioned 571 young adults, aged between 17 and 25, about the
make-up of their families and their emotional well-being.
Only children tended to score in the middle range for happiness and
optimism.
Liz Wright, the co-author of the study, said: "With only children we found
that they had lots of strong communication outside of the home. It appears
that they have as much social support as those with siblings, but it does
not come from within the family."
The findings will be presented today at the British Psychological Society
annual meeting in Brighton.

but i decided to post an entry before doing so !
havent been updating for some time and i dont really know where to start from.
mmm according to flower (my diary, yes shes called flower ah) , some happenings from the previous entry till now include:
1. vday with torto
this year was pretty much different from the rest cos 14feb was on a weekend this time round and we were all out of sch.
couples holding super ultra obvious gifts were a common sight and we actually played some stupid games using them as err stats. then we wondered if these couples appeared cos it was vday or simply because it was vday and eyeball-rolling(a term created by myra loke lay see) people like us tend to notice them more. LOL
anyhows after dinner i went to catch with ct people for a while and its good to see them happy and healthy (: cant wait to see them again SOON, like this fri? haha mm
2. Dua Dai Ji
Drama Box production from 19-22 feb.
was busy with foh and all. finally the account is closed and i regret to say counting money is not super my main area of interst :/
but it was good experience/training anyway (:

- i managed to finish twilight there and started on the last lecture
-the weather in guangzhou was disgustingly dry and cold
- the hotel we stayed at hk was the place i was made 18 years ago -.- thats what my mummy told me when we first stepped into the lobby.

had fun playing taboo! its kinda like a secret-revealing sharing-of-info bonding session at the same time hahaha, except that we scream it out.
3. ARTivate retreat to malacca !

meeting was quite fruitful (: finally starting the thinking engine lol >< although most times im still easily irritated by my own distractions. hopefully more light can come in as the days pass heh.
oh shopping was not bad too.
managed to know new ARTivators better (: too bad cy and xiaoxin couldnt join us. next time next time k :D
4. Geylang trips :b (lazy to elaborate)
5. lunch with lulu (finally met up with him after soooo long ! )
6. karaoke and dinner at liang court
i dont really miss vj but i think its time to go back some time next week ! hopefully there will be people around whom i miss seeing hahha :b

new year morning was spent taking 2hours plus of bus rides cos of my blurness ><
but since it was new yr i decided to be happy and went to read my book on the bus which really did make me happier (:
and so meeting time with marg jz gene ended up being near noon instead of 9.30 ! although i know you guys didnt mind it but still sorry ! i shall not be blur next time. yes a new year resolutionnnn
anyhows we decided to go klunch at pasir ris instead of the original plan which was to reminisce our pri/sec sch days at escape cos it was going to rain lol. this reminded of the time we went in to visit the 4 jnrs singing ! we shd go together next time some day aye ! :b

i spent the rest of my new year watching the pokemon movie at gene's place although i slept through about half of it (not on purpose!) ><
anyhows it was quite enjoyable cos i love his house ! jz and i had fun playing with his piano, sofa, fridge and bed i think :p
jz's new name is puff ! shes damn funny lah gene and i were like half dead then she was there complaining how hungry she was. oh last thing, UP is a big fat bully! i'll return you your 2 slaps before cny k, not good to owe stuff over new yr ! :B
the last part of today wasnt quite pleasant cos a sleepy person is an unhappy person. but i had good dinner with part of the extended family and nice dessert(strawberry snow ice) !

just a little update, i've been facing them 5hours a day for the past 2 weeks !
when i told my friends i went to work as a student care teacher (aka semi-baby sitter), 90 percent went " you must be damn happy" or "thats your type of job". i wasnt that sure at first but i guess i'm still enjoying it and although the 6 of them are like little devils most of the time ( except joanna, my favourite girl !) i think i'm slowly getting a hang of dealing with each of them !

karman (pronounced as carmen heh) is uber cute! he got the blur face all the time esp when he does his abacus. i think he's like secretly good at math but just lazy to do. so lately i like to use pokemon to threaten him, like if he doesnt do his work i shall not draw pokemon for him lol. then then ! he'll give the "huhhh" face and open his mouth damn big and go do his work, hahaha meltzxsz. hope im not sounding too paedophilic here >< but haaha yes he's my SECRET eye-candy. cos you cannot favour anyone openly if not they'll like cry and be super unhappy and you totally dont want that to happen :s )
the best thing about this job is, you'll never be bored cos these people are just amazingly energetic and creative !

2 years in CT passed really fast. while i have yet to consolidate all the events that occurred, she complied the photos into the glove and i cant help smiling like an idiot on the bus home as i flip through every page. was literally speechless lol

sdd was quite good i think (:
although i spent 80plus bucks for 2 prawns, 1 octopus, fruit salad, 1 piece of chicken and a bowl of honeydew sago.
and i didnt get to take the CT photo and photos with many people cos we had to be stuck in the room or back stage !
but i think everyone looked good that day and i had my decent share of fun :D
to obar for a while before heading to boat quay to meet class ! xx and yh werent in the right mind and there were 3-4 deep conversations going. had some good time talking to my favourite big hand !
